Ever had the frustrating time when working on CERN’s Large Hadron Collider or your local Nuclear Reactor and your watch just won’t stop messing around due to the massive increase in Magnetic force playing havoc on the insides of you puny non anti-magnetic watch and just wish you had the foresight to buy a watch that could withstand so much magnetic interference? No me neither but I would imagine it to be an exasperating issue but at least we have Rolex to fall back on for a solution.  In fact they had produced the solution in 1956 in order to help the magnetic issue on mechanical watches that Scientist and engineers were facing at this time. The watch in question that was released was the Rolex Milgauss which was able to resist strong interference of up to 1,000 gauss, hence its name - mille being French for thousand.

When Rolex released their teaser video to BaselWorld 2014, everyone who viewed the video talked about the fine fluted bezel, the apparent colour of rose gold, the perhaps blatant imagery of the moon and the lack of the Cyclops on the Crystal. What most people did not realise and only a few of the eagle eyed amongst us did, was that there was two watches shown to us on the video however it is the “fluted bezel” watch that is shown for the longer duration of time. The other watch was shown to us first but only a small glimpse, blink and you’ll miss it. The appearance of this watch was fairly thick in size with a flat bezel and again no Cyclops.

Later on today at 20:14 local time, 16:14 GMT, the World will see the grand opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics being held in Sochi, Russia, for what will be Omega’s 26th year as official time keeper and partner for the global event. Athletes from around the world will compete in sub-zero temperatures, all with the aim of standing on the winner’s podium with a gold medal around their neck, tears in their eyes and their national anthem blaring out for all to hear.
