Last year saw the announcement of another first for the Submersible as Panerai released details of their next hugely desirable piece, the PAM508 “Ceramica”. Anyone who knows the brand will know Panerai have executed the Submersible in many different materials but never in Ceramic. The case itself is made of zirconium oxide powder and has a hardness rating 5x that of stainless steel resulting in a resistance to scratches and knocks which makes for a seriously robust divers’ watch. The stealth look of the watch with the Ecru colouration on the dial is sure to be a massive favourite amongst the Panerai fans. The 1950s style case maintains Panerai’s famous historic looks and houses the P9000 manufactured movement which offers a 72 hour power reserve. On the case back, which is made of black titanium, there is an engraving of the famous SLC torpedo and the usual case numbers including each watches individual number. Strap wise Panerai seem to have done it again and released a vintage/distressed looking strap that really compliments the colouration of the watch as a whole and no Submersible would be complete without an extra rubber strap to turn the watch into an essential piece of divers’ equipment.
If we add all of this with the fact that once again Panerai have only made 1,000 available worldwide, demand is at an all-time high for this unique watch since it was unveiled at the beginning of 2013 as it is due to hit the UK any time now. All of these watches will go quickly and most will be hidden from site in collections spread across the globe.
